Elaine B. Chao is a New York based artist working in mixed media-digital printmaking. After earning a B.A. in Video Art from Rutgers University she discovered painting. Her unique process of digital printmaking draws on visual, cultural and stylistic elements from artists like Klee and Gerhard Richter as well as Classical Chinese art.

While much of her work has been abstract and non-representational, some of the work in her 2023 solo show at Solas Studio NYC includes portraiture produced with the same techniques. Over time she has pushed the borders of her artistic production though the combination of techniques, styles and mediums.

Her most recent show was at tunnel project space, Miami, USA. Additionally, she has been part of solo and group shows in NYC, Boulder CO, London UK and Venice Italy. Her artwork is also hosted online by Wide Gallery at www.wide.gallery. Elaine currently lives in Queens, NY with her partner and their cat.
